Really. Look at this. It's by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado, who draw the current Aquaman, which you probably already know I'm a bit of a fan of. Well, what's wrong with that Joe? you might well be asking. Not a lot, sez me, as a picture. As a picture, it fills all the requirements neccessary for sufficient purpose and entertainment. It's not a bad picture.
The problem is: that's Jay Garrick. That's right. Jay Garrick. The Golden Age Flash. Founding member of the Justice Society of America. Now, I love the Justice Society of America, the last series was top of the read pile, without fail, every month, and, as such, I was just a little bit nervous about their New 52 incarnations. I knew they'd fuck it up, but I knew I was gonna be alright with it. I knew it, I could feel it right down in me arse crack. But, I knew I wasn't gonna be too fussed about the whole thing. No point getting annoyed about the inevitable, right? &, as almost everyone I know all seem to be so very fond of telling me, it's only comics, right? Right?
I was wrong. I'm not cool with it. It's fucking shit.
Almost - and I do mean almost - as shit as this.
That's Captain Marvel. Sorry, Shazam. Apparently, people who read Captain Marvel comics are too fucking stupid to work out that his name's Captain Marvel. I ask ya: what was so wrong with Captain Marvel that he needed a fucking cowl? And it's The Curse of Shazam now. Yep. The CURSE of Shazam.
Does Dc actually employ someone who's job it is to specifically think up things to annoy me? 'Cos if that is the case, can I suggest they give that fucker a blow job and a pay rise, because he's really fucking good at his job! It's like the 'nineties all over again. Can someone please get that bird who looks a bit like that bird who's was in that comic Jim Lee did fucking years ago to hurry up and put everything back the way it was? See what they've done to me? You see? It's got so bad that I'm actually missing the shit they was putting out a year ago!!!
Fuck it.
